What kind of restoration does PrimeCraft do?

Accepted Answer

Surface and finish restoration — bringing damaged surfaces back rather than replacing them. That covers French polishing, wood and floor repair, stone and worktop repair, glass and mirror polishing, ceramic and bath repair, metalwork respraying and small spot-spray touch-ups. Most of it is carried out in place, in your home, with the repair colour-matched and blended into the surrounding finish so there's no sign of where the damage was.

Can you repair a chip or scratch without replacing the whole thing?

Accepted Answer

Almost always, yes — that's the point of restoration. A chipped quartz worktop, a scratched marble vanity, a cracked enamel bath, a burned wooden tabletop or a gouged floorboard can usually be filled, colour-matched, sealed and polished back in place for a fraction of the cost and disruption of a replacement. We'll tell you honestly at the survey if a piece is genuinely too far gone to save.

Do you work on site, or does the item have to go to a workshop?

Nearly everything is done on site. French polishing, stone and ceramic repairs, glass polishing and metalwork respraying are all carried out where the surface sits, with the area masked off and protected and the dust and overspray kept under control. Only the occasional small, loose item is easier taken away, and we'd agree that with you first rather than carting anything off unannounced.

How closely does a repair match the original surface?

Accepted Answer

Close enough that you generally have to be shown where it was. Colour is mixed and tinted on the day to the surrounding surface, the repair is feathered into the original finish, and stone and gloss surfaces are polished back to the same sheen. On a worktop or tabletop we'll usually blend across the whole surface so it reads as one piece, not as a patch.

How long does a restoration job take?

Most single repairs are a half-day to a day — a worktop chip, a re-enamelled bath, a glass polish, a radiator respray. Larger work, like French-polishing a staircase or restoring a run of railings, runs to a few days. Because it's repair rather than rip-out-and-replace, you're usually back to using the room the same day or the day after.

Is restoration cheaper than replacing the surface?

Accepted Answer

Usually by a wide margin, and with far less mess. Repairing a chipped stone worktop in place avoids re-templating, refitting and the plumbing and tiling that a replacement drags in; re-enamelling a bath avoids ripping out the tiling around it. We price each repair as its own line so you can weigh it against the cost of replacement and decide — there's no pressure either way.
