How many days does painting a room or a whole house take in London?

Accepted Answer

A single sitting room — walls, ceiling and trim, in sound condition — is usually a two-to-three-day job. A room that needs real prep, like filling cracked plaster or stripping old wallpaper, adds a day or two. A whole flat or house is quoted and scheduled room by room so the place stays liveable and you can see exactly what each room costs. You get a dated plan before we start.

What preparation do you do before painting?

The part that makes the job last. We rake out and fill cracks, scrape back flaking paint, sand the surfaces flat, knot and prime bare or patched areas, and caulk the edges before any topcoat goes on. On older London walls — lath-and-plaster, chalky, or previously papered — we'll line or stabilise them first. Skipping this is how you get a finish that looks fine for a month and then flakes; we don't skip it.

Which paints and finishes do you use?

Accepted Answer

Whatever suits the room and your budget. We have trade accounts with the premium lines — the well-known heritage and designer ranges — as well as the standard trade brands, and we'll use paint you've already bought if you prefer. We'll steer you on finish too: a durable matt or eggshell where a wall takes knocks, a breathable paint on an older solid wall, satin or eggshell on woodwork. Materials and labour are always separate lines on the quote.

Can you hang wallpaper and do feature walls?

Accepted Answer

Yes — hand-printed, textured and patterned papers. A single feature wall is usually one to one-and-a-half days; a whole room, including lining paper and prep, is two to three days. The walls are lined first where they need it so the paper sits flat, and the pattern is kept true at every seam. We can supply from the usual premium and independent makers or hang paper you've chosen yourself.

Do you paint exteriors and sash windows?

Accepted Answer

Yes — front doors, sash windows, render, brickwork and metal railings. Outside work needs proper preparation and the right weather, so it's scraped back, filled, primed and sealed before coating, and we schedule it around dry spells. Repainting the front of a typical London terrace takes one to two weeks including any access or scaffolding. Sash windows are prepped carefully — they're often original and worth keeping right.

Can you match an existing paint colour?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The easiest case is when you've kept the original tin. Without it, we can have the colour read and mixed at a paint merchant, or matched with a spectrometer at a premium-brand stockist, so a repaired or extended wall blends back into the rest. Matching a colour costs next to nothing and is included in the job.
