How long does fitting a new boiler take?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the job. A like-for-like swap, where the new unit goes where the old one was, is commonly a one-day job. A first-time fit, or moving the boiler or changing the system type, usually takes one to two days because there's more pipework and more to commission. We give you a firm date and a written, line-by-line price once we've seen the system.

Can you install smart heating controls such as Nest or Hive?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The common smart and zoned thermostats are straightforward to fit and set up, paired to your system and your phone, and zoned where you have the valves for it, so you can heat the rooms you're using rather than the whole house. This is controls-and-wiring work and can be done on its own or alongside other heating work.

Is it worth replacing my boiler, or should I just repair it?

Accepted Answer

As a rule of thumb: if the boiler is over about ten years old, has needed repeated repairs, or is getting hard to find parts for, replacing it usually works out cheaper over time and cuts your running costs, because modern condensing boilers are far more efficient. If it's newer and the fault is a one-off, a repair is normally the sensible call. We'll give you the honest assessment after we've looked at it, because there's no upside for us in talking you into a new boiler you don't need.
